I loved
this sweater from the "baby announcement" layette I made for Scarlett so much, that I decided to try making it larger for Audrey. Thankfully, it worked! I love this sweater! Instead of the fingering weight yarn the pattern called for, I sized up to a DK weight and used
KnitPicks Merino Style yarn in Nutmeg. Then I just followed the pattern as it was written. (I tried upsizing the sweater for Scarlett too, but used the original yarn, with a larger hook, and modified the pattern and it was
not nearly as successful...)
I loved working with this yarn. It has great stitch definition and it's really soft. I think the sweater drapes beautifully too. This may be my favorite project yet!
I picked this warm, woodsy color because I thought it would coordinate well with Scarlett's sweater without being too matchy-matchy. (I'm trying to move away from the identical outfits to the complementary outfits, which I find even more fun, and my husband, an identical twin, finds less spooky.)
I added buttons, which the pattern didn't call for, but I thought necessary for a toddler sweater. I also modified the collar, as with
Scarlett's original sweater, so that it doesn't overlap the front facings.
I can't wait for Audrey to wear this! It may even work for the Fall if she doesn't grow too much.

Oh, I would really LOVE to make this for my toddler! Would you please help me find the pattern? I don't know how to look up that magazine or what I need to do. I am not good at upsizing. I think this is quite lovely, though, and I can usually follow a pattern if I have one. Would you please help me?!? Thanks!!!
What size would you say this came out to? I just ordered the magazine and am going to make the set for my daughter due in November. I also have a 15 month old (will be 17 months) when the baby comes, so I was wondering if this would be her size with the changes you made to the pattern? Thank you!
@craftymommajess: My daughter was 2 1/2 when she wore this sweater. You could probably make the sleeves and body a bit shorter and get it a little smaller...
Thanks for the quick reply!
I would love to get this pattern. Where did you find it? It is beautiful!
I have tried for several hours to find either this pattern or the magazine it came from with no success. Do you have any suggestions how or where I can find either one?
@Crystal Clark: The pattern is from an old magazine. It is difficult to find. Please send me an email and I can give you some suggestions. My email is listed in the Contact section. Thanks!
How can I get this pattern?
Can you please help me find this pattern? My email is marybatchelorscrochet@gmail.com
I would really appreciate your help with this.
Where can I find the pattern? Thanks!
I would LOVE this pattern. I haven't been able to find the magazine to buy. Please help!!
Thanks
The original pattern is from Family Circle Easy Crochet Spring/summer 2007. The pattern for the Jacket is on page 95. The Layette Set is called Lacy Bay Fare - with the Bonnet and Booties. Page 97 has the lacy baby blanket that matches.
Hope this helps someone!
I was able to find the Baby Layette pattern she mentioned. It is at: www.pdfmagaz.in/02043702-family-circle-easy-crochet-2007-17-Spring-Summer/
It shows that you should pay to get it, but you don't have to. Just click on down-load and it will download. It just takes about 10-15 minutes. then you can peruse the magazine. I will just have to adjust for a different size for a young girl.
Why do people make posts of beautiful things to make and then not post the link or the pattern.this is a waste of my time when it takes forever or maybe not even at all to get the pattern.¡¡!!!!!!!??????
I too would love this pattern! Since it was published in 2007 the copyright is probably expired so it can be shared, just not sold. If anyone has a copy of this pattern I would so love to hear from them!Diane@disbuys.com
