Review: Sewn Hats (Giveaway)

I've got another book review and giveaway for you, but this is a bit different...

Sewn Hats, a new book by Carla Hegeman Crim, is collection of hat patterns contributed by a great list of bloggers, and I am among them!  I shared a version of my Engineer Cap. This one is sized for babies and toddlers but it also has a shorter brim. And for girls, a great bow in the back. An adult-sized one is actually on my list. I think it would be great!

Having something in print is a kick and as a little added bonus they also used my photograph of Scarlett wearing the cap. I made it in this great Madras patchwork and think it looks so summery and fun. I love it on her!

Looking at these pictures again makes me want to make some more hats, so it's a good thing I have a copy of Sewn Hats! There are 35 differnt cute hat patterns for people of all ages. And Carla, The Scientific Seamstress, has overseen the entire project so the approach to the instructions is consistent and error-free. She converted each submission to an electronic pattern, provides technique notes for sewing, and the tutorial illustrations are beautiful. Looks like sewing any one of these hats would be a straightforward and fun experience.

I especially love this Heloise Floral Hat by Jennifer Paganelli--it looks like something one could wear to a royal wedding!

And I could really use a French General Sunhat. Looks French indeed, and yet practical. That wide brim looks perfect!
